UnitLync ("we," "us," or "our") operates the UnitLync platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our Service. By using UnitLync, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

1. What Data We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Password (stored as a hashed value; never stored in plain text)
  • Account preferences and settings
  • Subscription plan and billing history (managed by Lemon Squeezy)

1.2 Property and Tenant Data

When you use the Service, you may enter:

  • Property addresses, unit details, and configuration
  • Tenant names, contact details, lease information, and notes
  • Rent records — amounts, due dates, and payment notes
  • Expense records and categories
  • Documents and files you upload (e.g., leases, invoices)

This data is input by you and stored on your behalf. You are responsible for ensuring that any personal information you enter about tenants or other parties has been collected lawfully.

1.3 Usage and Analytics Information

We automatically collect certain technical data, including IP address, device type, browser type and version, pages visited and time spent, and features used. This data is used to improve the Service and is not sold to third parties.

1.4 Communications

If you contact our support team, we retain records of those communications.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Send account-related notifications (e.g., billing receipts, password resets)
  • Respond to support requests
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve features
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure (Google Firebase / Google Cloud Platform). We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • Role-based access controls
  • Regular security reviews

While we take all reasonable precautions, no method of data transmission or storage is 100% secure. In the event of a data breach, we will notify affected users in accordance with applicable law.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the platform:

Lemon Squeezy Subscription billing and payment processing (Merchant of Record)
Google Analytics Website and app usage analytics
Mailgun Transactional email delivery

These providers are bound by their own privacy policies and data processing agreements. We do not share user data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

5. Tenant Data (Entered by Landlords)

You, as the landlord and account holder, are the data controller for any tenant information you enter into UnitLync. UnitLync acts as a data processor on your behalf. You are responsible for:

  • Having a lawful basis for collecting and storing your tenants' personal information.
  • Informing tenants that their data is managed through UnitLync.
  • Responding to tenant requests to access or delete their data.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. After account deletion, we may retain anonymized or aggregated data for analytical purposes. Personal data is deleted within 90 days of account closure, unless required by law to retain it longer.

  • Maintain your session (essential cookies)
  • Analyze usage patterns (analytics cookies)

You can control cookie preferences in your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may affect Service functionality.

9. Children's Privacy

UnitLync is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.
